Our Family’s Commitment to Care

At Assistance Home Care, we are committed to caring for people who care for people. Our story began in the home “on the corner,” where our Co-Founder and Chief Care Officer, Sally, grew up. Her Mom wasn’t just a caregiver to their family but to the entire neighborhood. When Alzheimer’s knocked at the door, Sally’s Family answered the call to care for her Mom with the same love and dedication she had shown others.

Balancing Family, Caregiving, and Life

For five years, Sally provided daily care for her Mom who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease while supporting her Dad and raising three children. Honoring her parents’ wishes to stay at home was one of the most difficult yet personally rewarding experiences of her life. This journey revealed the incredible need for support among families caring for loved ones at home.

As Sally reflects, “We founded Assistance Home Care in honor of my Mom. The most important thing to her was her family and having good quality time together, and that was usually done right around the kitchen table. It is our commitment to you to help bring your family back around the table. Let us do the busy work, so that you can have good quality time with your family.”

Recognizing the Need for Support

Allen Serfas, President and Co-Founder of Assistance Home Care, recalls, “My father-in-law was a very proud and private man who never thought once about having anyone else come into their home to help! He had four daughters, and he thought that they would be all the support that he would need. My wife, Sally, was the primary caregiver for her mom for five years while raising our three kids. Our family recognized firsthand the commitment needed along with the endless challenges associated with being a full-time caregiver.”
