Understanding Dole Act H.R. 8371- Improving Care At Home For Veterans
We have exciting news for veterans and their families! President Joe Biden has signed an important new law called the Senator Elizabeth Dole 21st Century Veterans Healthcare and Benefits Improvement Act as of January 3rd, 2025 (Source: White House). This law will make it easier for veterans to get the care they need—right in their own homes.
At Assistance Home Care, we’re proud to be part of the Home Care Association of America (HCAOA), which worked hard to make this happen. As an authorized Veteran Provider, we are here to help veterans and their families navigate the process of accessing in-home care services through the new benefits outlined in this law. This law ensures veterans can receive the same level of care at home as they would in a nursing home, giving them more options and support.
What Does This New Law Do For Veterans Healthcare & Benefits?
This law makes it easier for veterans to get affordable, high-quality care at home. Here’s how:
- More Access to Care at Home: Veterans will now have better access to care at home that is just as good as what they’d receive in a nursing home. This helps those who want to stay at home avoid tough financial and logistical challenges.
- More Choices: Veterans can now choose to stay at home, close to their family and familiar surroundings, without giving up the quality care they need.
- Better Quality of Life: With care at home, veterans can live more comfortably and independently, while receiving one-on-one support to help both their physical and mental health.
- Smoother Transitions: Veterans can move more easily between nursing homes and home care, ensuring they always receive the care they need.
Why H.R. 8371 Matters For Veterans
For years, many veterans faced challenges getting the care they needed at home because funding was limited. Now, with more funding and support, veterans can access high-quality home care, keeping their dignity and independence intact.
