In our latest Tapestry Taskforce monthly newsletter, we shine a spotlight on Juneteenth, an important holiday in American history, to promote awareness and education among our team members and the wider community.

Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. On June 19, 1865, Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced the end of slavery, marking a crucial moment in the struggle for freedom and equality. Although the Emancipation Proclamation had been issued two and a half years earlier, its message had not reached all parts of the country until that day.
