Assistance Home Care at the 2024 SSM Worker’s Compensation CEU Seminar: A Commitment to Health and Recovery
Assistance Home Care recently had the privilege of attending and sponsoring the 2024 SSM Worker’s Compensation CEU Seminar hosted by SSM Health Physical Therapy in St. Louis, Missouri. The event brought together healthcare professionals dedicated to supporting employees impacted by work-related injuries, offering valuable insights on the latest practices and case studies aimed at improving patient outcomes.
The seminar featured an impressive lineup of speakers, each contributing their expertise to create a comprehensive learning experience for attendees. We heard from Dr. Lyndon Gross and Jennifer Weller, Esq., who shared their knowledge on “The Perfect IME” (Independent Medical Evaluation), highlighting best practices for accuracy and thoroughness in evaluations that support both patient recovery and effective case resolution.
Dr. Nathan Mall led an insightful discussion on “Risk Factors with Minor Injuries,” shedding light on how even seemingly small injuries can evolve into more complex health issues without the right preventative care and intervention. His session underscored the importance of early identification and management of risk factors to ensure faster and more complete recoveries.
Kevin Wilhite, MPT, DMT, CEAS, gave a fantastic presentation on “Functional Capacity Evaluations,” providing attendees with actionable techniques for assessing physical capabilities following an injury. Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCEs) play a crucial role in determining an employee’s readiness to return to work safely, and Kevin’s expertise in this area was both educational and inspiring.
Dr. Brian Meek closed the seminar with a strong, lighthearted finish, captivating the audience with his engaging presentation and case studies on “How Cases Go Awry.” His unique blend of humor and deep insight into the complexities of worker’s compensation cases left attendees with both valuable lessons and a smile, underscoring the importance of resilience and adaptability in the field.
We extend our deepest gratitude to SSM Health Physical Therapy for organizing such a valuable event, and to all the healthcare professionals who attended with a shared commitment to improving the health and function of employees impacted by work-related injuries. We are honored to have been part of this incredible gathering and look forward to continuing our work alongside these dedicated individuals and organizations, supporting injury recovery and helping patients regain their lives and independence.
